Note: All calculations use Lahiri Ayanamsa (sidereal) and Swiss Ephemeris for high precision. Times are displayed in your local timezone. Jupiter stays in each sign for ~12 months when direct, up to ~15 months total when a retrograde loop happens in one sign region. Jupiter goes retrograde roughly once every 13 months for ~120 days each, and is combust within 11° of the Sun (in both directions).

About Guru Peyarchi 2027 (Sign & Nakshatra)

Guru Rashi Calendar 2027 — what this timeline shows

This is the complete Jupiter sign-change calendar for 2027 — every rashi entry, retrograde loop, combust window, and peak-dignity moment for Jupiter (Guru) laid out chronologically. The same underlying calendar is known by several regional names:

  • Guru Rashi Peyarchi 2027 — the primary name we use across the site; combines the Sanskrit "Guru Rashi" (Jupiter sign) with "Peyarchi" (transit) into one clear label.
  • Guru Rashi Calendar 2027 / Jupiter Rashi Calendar — pan-Indian generic name emphasising sign changes.
  • Guru Peyarchi 2027 (குரு பெயர்ச்சி) — Tamil / South Indian name; Peyarchi literally means “moving” or “transit”.
  • Guru Gochar 2027 (गुरु गोचर) — North Indian Hindi name; Gochar means “movement across the sky”.
  • Guru Rashi Parivartan 2027 — Sanskrit name emphasising sign transformation.
  • Jupiter Yearly Transit 2027 — English name used in Western Vedic astrology.

All refer to the same event set: each Jupiter sign visit for 2027 as a card, ordered chronologically. Because Jupiter retrogrades roughly once every 13 months and can re-enter the previous sign, 2027 may contain more sign-visit cards than the signs it actually visits — each retrograde re-entry counts as its own visit with its own entry and exit times.

Guru Nakshatra Peyarchi 2027 — the second half of this page

Below the sign timeline you'll find the complete Jupiter Nakshatra calendar for 2027 — also called Guru Nakshatra Peyarchi or Guru Nakshatra Gochar. Both journeys live on one page because Jupiter is slow: it spends roughly twelve months in a sign and two to four months in a Nakshatra, so a year holds only three or four sign visits and four or five Nakshatra visits. Split across two pages, each would read as nearly empty.

  • Nakshatra name, ruling planet and deity — e.g. Punarvasu is ruled by Jupiter with Aditi as its deity.
  • Entry and exit times in your local timezone, computed to the second.
  • Pada breakdown — each Nakshatra spans four ~3.3° padas, and each pada carries its own start and end moment. Because Jupiter is slow, a single pada can run for weeks.
  • ♃ Jupiter-owned badge — visible on Punarvasu, Vishakha and Purva Bhadrapada, the three Nakshatras Jupiter rules in the Vimshottari Dasha scheme.
  • ↺ Retrograde and ☼ Combust badges — flagged when the visit begins in retrograde motion or overlaps a combustion window.

There are deliberately no dignity filter chips on this page. With so few cards in a year, filtering would hide more than it reveals — every sign visit and every Nakshatra visit is shown in full, in chronological order.

The three Jupiter-owned Nakshatras

In the classical Vimshottari Dasha order, three Nakshatras have Jupiter (Guru) as their ruling planet — called “Jupiter-owned Nakshatras” here:

  • Punarvasu (पुनर्वसु)
    • 20°00′ Gemini to 3°20′ Cancer.
    • Deity: Aditi, mother of the gods.
    • Its name means “return of the light”; associated with renewal, homecoming and second chances. Jupiter in Punarvasu favours restoration, teaching, and beginning again after a setback.
  • Vishakha (विशाखा)
    • 20°00′ Libra to 3°20′ Scorpio.
    • Deity: Indra-Agni, the only paired deity among the 27.
    • Associated with concentrated ambition and the last effort before a goal is reached. Jupiter in Vishakha favours sustained pursuit of long-term aims.
  • Purva Bhadrapada (पूर्व भाद्रपदा)
    • 20°00′ Aquarius to 3°20′ Pisces.
    • Deity: Aja Ekapada, the one-footed goat.
    • Associated with austerity, intensity and transformation through fire; the most severe of Jupiter’s three.

Because the Vimshottari lords repeat every ninth Nakshatra, a planet’s three sit exactly 120° apart — a trine. Jupiter’s three therefore all straddle a sign boundary, each opening in an air sign and closing in a water one (Gemini→Cancer, Libra→Scorpio, Aquarius→Pisces), so one Nakshatra visit can span two rashis. When Jupiter transits one, classical Muhurta considers Jupiter-signified affairs — ceremonies, formal study, teaching, counsel and long-term commitments — strengthened. A lord owns only three of the 27, so many years contain no such visit at all; when one does fall in the year shown, the Nakshatra timeline below marks it with a ♃ Jupiter-owned badge and a subtle gold card tint.

Common questions this page answers

Between the retrograde badges, combust badges and peak-dignity sub-events, most Jupiter-timing questions can be answered in one or two clicks. Common examples:

  • When is Jupiter exalted in 2027? — click Exalted. The Cancer card(s) show the full sign-wide exaltation window plus the nested Peak Exaltation, which marks the exact 5°00'00" Cancer crossing.
  • When is Jupiter debilitated in 2027? — click Debilitated. The Capricorn card(s) show the full window plus the nested Peak Debilitation moment at exactly 5°00'00" Capricorn.
  • When is Jupiter in its own sign (Sagittarius / Pisces) in 2027? — click Own Sign. Both Sagittarius and Pisces visits appear together with entry, exit, and duration.
  • When is Jupiter retrograde (Guru Vakri) in 2027? — scan for the red Retrograde badge on cards. Nested station-retrograde and station-direct moments give the exact ~120 day window. Jupiter retrogrades roughly once every 13 months, so most years carry one and some carry parts of two.
  • When is Jupiter combust (Guru Asta) in 2027? — scan for the red Combust badge. Jupiter meets the Sun once per ~13-month cycle, so a combust window falls roughly once a year. Nested entry and exit moments give the exact window.
  • When is Jupiter in Cancer / Sagittarius / Pisces / Capricorn in 2027? — use the dignity filter for a one-click answer, or scroll the timeline to the relevant month.
  • When is Jupiter in Aries / Taurus / Gemini / Leo / Virgo / Libra / Scorpio / Aquarius in 2027? — click Neutral. All neutral-dignity visits are shown with entry and exit dates.
  • When are the best ceremony / study Muhurta Jupiter days in 2027? — classical rule: Jupiter direct + uncombust + in Cancer, Sagittarius or Pisces. Filter Exalted or Own Sign, then rule out any window that overlaps a retrograde or combust badge.

What's inside each sign-visit card

  • Sign & entry / exit times in your local timezone, plus the total duration.
  • Sign-wide dignity — Exalted (whole Cancer visit), Own (Sagittarius and Pisces), or Debilitated (whole Capricorn visit) — the badge names the strongest dignity the visit reaches. Sagittarius is not uniform: see the band breakdown below.
  • Retrograde sub-events — if Jupiter goes retrograde during this sign visit, the exact station-retrograde and station-direct moments are listed as nested rows.
  • Combust sub-events — if Jupiter enters and/or exits the Sun's combustion range during this visit, both boundary moments are listed.
  • Peak Exaltation / Debilitation sub-events — the moment Jupiter crosses the exact peak degree (5°00'00" Cancer or 5°00'00" Capricorn). Not a range: roughly two minutes, stretching past eight when the crossing falls near a station.
  • Dignity band sub-events — Sagittarius changes dignity partway through, so every Sagittarius card lists both windows with their own entry and exit times: moolatrikona 0°00'00"–10°00'00", then own sign 10°00'01"–29°59'59". Because Jupiter retrogrades, a single visit can cross that boundary more than once and the bands then alternate. Hover any band badge for its exact bounds.

How to use the 2027 timeline

The colored year-progress bar above the cards shows the whole year at a glance, with each colored segment representing one sign visit. Hover any bar segment to preview its start and end dates. Cards below give the full readout. Practical use cases for 2027:

  • Ceremony and study timing — find every window when Jupiter is direct, uncombust, and in Cancer / Sagittarius / Pisces during 2027. These are the classical preferred Muhurta windows for Jupiter-signified undertakings.
  • Retrograde awareness — every Jupiter retrograde in 2027 is called out. Vedic tradition considers these periods less favorable for beginning formal study, legal filings, or ceremonies.
  • Combust awareness — combust windows in 2027 are called out for Jupiter-signified matters like ceremonies, legal filings, and teaching engagements.
  • Peak dignity moments — the 2027 peak-exaltation windows in Cancer are the strongest Jupiter moments of the year and are prized for teaching, ceremonies, and anything begun with an eye on the long term. Jupiter reaches Cancer only about every 12 years, so most years have none.

How the 2027 events are calculated

Every sign entry, retrograde station, combust boundary, and peak-dignity boundary in the 2027 timeline is computed via Swiss Ephemeris with Lahiri Ayanamsha, resolved to the exact ephemeris instant via binary search. Retrograde stations are found by tracking when Jupiter's sidereal speed reverses sign; combust boundaries by tracking the Sun-Jupiter angular distance against the classical 11° threshold from the Surya Siddhanta; sign, nakshatra, and peak-dignity boundaries by tracking Jupiter's sidereal longitude. No analytical formulas, interpolation tables, or approximations are used.
