Note: All calculations use Lahiri Ayanamsa (sidereal) and Swiss Ephemeris for high precision. Times are displayed in your local timezone. Saturn stays in each sign for ~2.5 years when direct, up to ~2.5 years total when a retrograde loop happens in one sign region. Saturn goes retrograde roughly about once a year for ~138 days each, and is combust within 15° of the Sun (in both directions). Search range is capped at 730 days, which captures the full ~26-month retrograde cycle in a single query.

About Finding Saturn Transit Dates

Reverse lookup — the “when” question

The Live Tracker and Date Lookup tools tell you where Saturn is at a given moment. Find Dates flips the question to “when will Saturn be in a specific sign or nakshatra?” — or its past-tense twin “when was it?” You specify the target (a zodiac sign or a nakshatra) plus a date range up to 730 days wide — the range can sit anywhere in the past or future — and get back every window in it during which Saturn occupies that target. Windows are returned as separate rows with entry time, exit time, and duration in your local timezone, including retrograde re-entries as their own rows.

Common Saturn transit searches

Typical questions this reverse lookup answers — use it to check when Saturn was in a target sign or nakshatra in the past, or when it will be in one over the next 730 days:

  • "When will Saturn be in Libra?" / "When was Saturn in Tula last year?" — the exaltation sign, exalted throughout, with peak exaltation at 20°. The strongest Saturn window in any cycle — classically favoured for contracts, long-term commitments, service, and work meant to endure.
  • "When will Saturn be in Aquarius?" / "When was Saturn in Kumbha?" — Saturn's own sign, which also holds its mooltrikona (0°00'00"–20°00'00", with plain own sign from 20°00'01"). Strong for collective work, systems, detachment and long-range thinking.
  • "When will Saturn be in Capricorn?" / "When was Saturn in Makara?" — Saturn's second own sign. Strong for career, structure, duty and sustained ambition.
  • "When is Saturn in Aries?" / "When was Saturn in Mesha last year?" — the debilitation window, where Mars's impatient fire rushes the slow, deliberate work Saturn depends on. Classically avoided for long-term commitments, tenures and anything needing patience to mature.
  • "When will Saturn be in Taurus / Gemini / Cancer / Leo / Virgo / Scorpio / Sagittarius / Pisces?" — the eight neutral-dignity rashis. Each returns entry and exit windows over the search range.
  • "When will Saturn retrograde next?" / "When was the last Saturn retrograde?" — Saturn goes retrograde about once a year for roughly 138 days, so every calendar year contains one; a 730-day range always captures two.
  • "When was Saturn combust (Shani Asta)?" — also called Shani Moudhya or Shani Lope. Run a search near the sign the Sun occupied, then check the Combust flag on each result. Saturn meets the Sun once per ~12.5-month synodic cycle, so combust windows occur roughly once a year.
  • "When was Saturn in Pushya / Anuradha / Uttara Bhadrapada?" — the three Saturn-owned nakshatras. Ideal for personal-nakshatra readings and Saturn-strength muhurta.
  • Historical natal verification — search a wide past range for your birth sign or nakshatra to verify natal Saturn placement (Vedic almanacs sometimes differ by a few hours from Swiss Ephemeris on boundary days).
  • Planning ranges — check the whole next year for every sign visit at once, useful for annual muhurta scheduling.

Saturn in 2026 — searching a whole year

Year-qualified searches such as "Saturn in Pushya 2026 dates" or "when is Saturn in Anuradha this year" are best answered in two steps. Set the From and To fields above to the stretch of 2026 you care about and the results list every entry and exit window inside it. A single search covers up to 730 days, so a full calendar year — or two — fits in one pass.

For a whole year in one view, the Saturn Peyarchi 2026 timeline lays out every sign and nakshatra visit for 2026 on a single page, with entry and exit times and dignity windows marked. Use this Find tool when you know which nakshatra or rashi you want; use the year timeline when you want the full sequence.

Retrograde re-entries — why the same sign can appear twice

Saturn goes retrograde roughly about once a year and can cross a sign boundary backwards, re-entering the previous sign for a second visit before turning direct and exiting for good. When this happens inside your search range, the tool returns two separate rows for the same sign — the initial forward visit and the retrograde re-entry — each with its own entry and exit time. This mirrors how Vedic almanacs table Peyarchi events.
